Practicing Hope week 7 - Delight!
AWM, Abiquiqui
I know I took longer than 7 weeks to arrive at the last week of the Hope Portal podcast. I have enjoyed taking my time on the journey to walk slowly, listen intently, and pay attention to what has stirred within me. It is my prayer that you have taken some time, too. Just a reminder that the link to each episode is underlined in my messages. So you can always go back through the weeks through ‘original posts’ link at the bottom of this page and listen any time! They are worth repeating. With that, here is the link to week 7 with Ross Gay.
How does one write about delight? I feel delight when I simply write the word delight! It literally makes me smile, fills my lungs, and expands my heart. Delight is an experience that can be shared. I know it when I feel it, but can’t explain or teach it.
I wonder if naming delight can enliven the way we have diluted the use of the word love?
I delight sitting here in the utter stillness looking out at the desert grasses and earth shaped by the winds of time (I am writing from Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM).
A bird sings – delightful!
I am delighted by the way my pen moves across the paper, creating the shapes I want and actually forming letters that make words and sentences. Amazing!
I delight in sharing with my journey companions even if I don’t know what to say. Thanks for being here.
I delight in my morning tea, followed by a good hot cup of coffee.
What will I notice if I begin to replace the word love with delight? Will it help me be more aware of what I actually experience, how I feel? Maybe it will give more meaning to my expression. It may just be delightful!
Delight yourself in the Lord, and God
will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4
Thank you for joining me on this Hope journey.
in this together,
Amy
